President Trump concentrated on workforce issues, during a stop at Waukesha County Technical College Tuesday. The president also attended a fundraiser for Gov. Scott Walker, who is gearing up to run for a third term as governor…although he’s still holding off on an official announcement until after the state budget has been passed. During a stop in Fond du Lac Monday, Walker said the president’s help on workforce development will be welcome. Walker says he and other governors will meet with President Trump at the White House on Thursday to discuss workforce.

The driver of a car escaped serious injury when the vehicle overturned in a creek in Fond du Lac County. The crash happened shortly before 9:30pm Sunday on Van Dyne Road at the Anderson Creek bridge. A south bound vehicle drifted off the roadway, striking the bridge guard rail and then overturning into Anderson Creek. Residents near the crash scene were able to help remove the lone occupant in the vehicle. The driver was checked by North Fond du Lac Ambulance and released at the scene. Alcohol and inattentive driving are considered to be factors in the crash. An unknown amount of gasoline and oil were spilled into Anderson Creek as a result of the crash. The Wisconsin DNR was notified of the spill.

It’s time to review hot weather awareness Tod Pritchard with Wisconsin Emergency Management says it’s important to look out for yourself – such as staying out of the heat and staying hydrated. And to look out for others, especially elderly, home bound neighbors and relatives. And as always, never leave children or pets inside hot vehicles. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper eighties across much of Wisconsin at least through Friday.

Prosecutors will ask for 25 years in prison for a lottery computer programmer who’s admitting to rigging jackpots in multiple states. A plea agreement released Monday shows former Multi-State Lottery Association security director Eddie Tipton has agreed to plead guilty to felony charges in Iowa and Wisconsin. Prosecutors will seek a 25-year term for him in Iowa. The document says his brother, Tommy Tipton, will plead guilty to theft charges in Iowa. The brother has agreed to recommend that he serve 75 days in jail. The document calls for the brothers to pay back a total of $3 million in lottery winnings that were linked to rigged drawings in Colorado, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Kansas. They’ve also agreed to tell investigators “all facts related, directly or indirectly, to their actions to fix, win and claim lottery jackpots.”

A wet spring season has experts predicting that summer water levels for the Great Lakes could be higher than normal and above last year’s mark through early fall. The Great Lakes Hydraulics and Hydrology Office at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Detroit District announced Monday in its six-month water level forecast that summer water levels on lakes Superior, Michigan-Huron, St. Clair and Erie will be at their highest since 1996-1998. The group’s forecast data also shows that as of Sunday, Lake Ontario is up nearly 3 feet (nearly 1 meter) from the level it was at this time last year. The lake exceeded its highest elevation ever for June, which was set in 1952. Year-round recording of Great Lakes water levels has occurred since 1918.
