8/26/24 Missing Boy Found in FDL County Cornfield

Searchers were able to find a missing 3-year-old boy in a cornfield Sunday night on Marshview Road in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Alto. A parent reported the child missing at 8:49 pm saying it was believed the child had walked into the standing cornfield behind the house. Deputies arriving on the scene learned the boy was last seen at approximately 7:30 pm and all the barns and buildings on the property had been thoroughly searched. Alto Fire Department paged out for manpower to search the standing cornfield. The Sheriff’s Office requested a drone operator from the Fond du Lac Police Department to assist with the search. The drone was equipped with thermal imaging cameras. At approximately 9:30 pm the done located a heat spot in the middle of the cornfield. A deputy and fire personal walked to the location. At 9:46 pm deputies advised they had located the boy, and he was not injured. He was carried out of the cornfield and then driven back to the farm where he was reunited with his parents. The child was approximately ½ a mile away from home when he was located.
