CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS REJECTED
Voters in Wisconsin rejected both State Constitutional Amendments in Tuesday’s voting. The first prohibiting the legislature from delegating appropriations was rejected with 57 percent of voters voting no. The second requiring legislative approval for federal funds was also voted down with more than 57 percent voting no. The majority of voters in Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Waupaca County, and Waushara counties voted yes on both questions, while Dodge and Winnebago county voters rejected both questions.
US SENATE AND CONGRESSIONAL RACES
Republican challenger Eric Hovde will face incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin this November. Hovde won the Republican Primary yesterday with 86 percent of the vote besting Charles Barman and Rejani Reveendran. In the race for the 8th Congressional District seat Tony Wied won the Republican Primary with 43.5 percent of the vote beating Roger Roth and Andre Jacque. He will face Democrat Kristin Lyerly in the General Election. In the Republican Primary for the 2nd Congressional District seat Erik Olsen beat Charity Barry getting 56 percent of the vote.
STATE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY RACES
In State Senate Races yesterday Melissa Ratcliff won the Democratic Primary for the 16th State Senate District receiving 52 percent of the vote. Jimmy Anderson and Sama Baldeh were her opponents. With 62 percent of the vote Anthony Phillips defeated Blong Yang in the Republican Primary for the 18th State Senate District. Dan Feyen of Fond du Lac got 64 percent of the vote in the 20th State Senate District GOP Primary to defeat Timothy Ramthun. Feyen currently represents the 18th State Senate District.
In State Assembly races Lindee Brill wins the Republican Primary for the 27th District with 51 percent of the vote beating Brian Hilbelink. Mark Born of Beaver Dam was the winner in the Republican Primary for the 37th with 69 percent of the vote to defeat Steve Rydzewski. District 48’s Democratic Primary featured five candidates. Andrew Hysell took that race with 32 percent of the vote. In a battle of two incumbent Assemblyman Nate Gustafson who is representing the 55th defeated Michael Schraa who has been representing the 53rd in the GOP Primary for the 55th. Gustafson received 55 percent of the vote. Kevin Peterson won the Republican Primary for the 57th District notching 63 percent of the vote to defeat Duane Wilson.
COUNTY OFFICE RACES
Voters in each Wisconsin County yesterday voted on District Attorney, County Clerk, Treasurer and Register of Deeds races. Most incumbents in those offices were unopposed. There were a couple of races in the area. In Winnebago County Susan Snyder won the GOP Primary for Register of Deeds getting 8,241 votes to Paul Esslinger’s 7,286 votes. Snyder will face Democrat Christopher Larson in November. In Waupaca County there was a Republican Primary race for the Register of Deeds Office. Jeremy Schoenike received 5,006 votes to Mary Keehn’s 2,631 votes. Schoenike faces no opposition in the General Election.
