Willy Adames hit a pair of two-run homers and the Milwaukee Brewers routed the Atlanta Braves 10-0, handing them their third straight loss Tuesday night.

Colin Rea (10-3) dominated the Braves for seven innings, striking out a season-high nine batters while allowing five hits and one walk. Rea has not given up a run in his last three road starts, spanning 19 innings. The Brewers improved to 14-5 in Rea’s 19 starts this season.

Adames was 4 for 5 with four RBIs, giving him 75 on the season. William Contreras was 3 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Joey Ortiz, Rhys Hoskins, Jackson Chourio and Brice Turang had two hits apiece as the Brewers finished with 16.

Bryce Elder (2-5) gave up seven runs on eight hits in just 3 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked two.

Elder faced the Brewers a week ago and held them to one run in 6 1/3 innings in Milwaukee. The tables turned quickly at Truist Park, with the Brewers scoring three in the first. Turang led off with a single and stole second, then came home when Contreras tripled to right field on a ball that sent Jorge Soler crashing into the wall. Adames followed that up with a 426-foot home run to center field.

Ortiz knocked in Rhys Hoskins in the second inning, then Adames hit his second two-run homer in the third, again driving in Contreras. Sal Frelick scored on an RBI single by Turang, and Elder was gone one batter later.

Contreras added a two-out RBI double in the sixth to right field.

Braves first baseman Matt Olson was 2 for 4 with two doubles.

The Braves have been shut out in back-to-back games and are 2-7 in their last nine home games.

Braves LHP Chris Sale (13-3, 2.71 ERA) faces Brewers RHP Freddy Peralta (6-6, 3.89) in the second game of the three-game series Wednesday. First pitch is at 6:20. Elsewhere in the NL Central Tuesday the Padres shutout the Pirates 6-0, the Cardinals nipped the Rays 4-3, the Cubs over the Twins 7-3 and the Reds beat the Marlins 8-2. The Brewers lead the Cardinals by six games, the Pirates by seven, the Reds by 8 ½ and the Cubs are nine games out.

Elsewhere the White Sox snapped their 21-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory over Oakland on Tuesday night. The victory broke up the White Sox franchise-record losing streak that was tied with the 1988 Orioles for the longest in AL history and two shy of matching the ’61 Phillies’ Modern Era record.

In the Midwest League  Tuesday the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers lost at Quad Cities 5-0. They meet again tonight with the first pitch at 6:30.

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders suffered a close loss on Tuesday night at Herr-Baker Field, falling 3-2 to the Madison Mallards. The Dock Spiders now hold a record of 25-40 for the season and 12-20 in the second half.

The Dock Spiders close their road schedule on Wednesday at Wisconsin Rapids, with the first pitch against the Mallards at 6:35 p.m.

On Tuesday, coach Matt LaFleur announced starters on both sides of the ball will play in Saturday’s preseason matchup against the Browns, including quarterback Jordan Love.

The newly signed $55,000,000 per year quarterback, Love will suit up in the preseason opener at Cleveland. Love is hoping the work he puts in on that exhibition field Saturday will allow him to sit out the preseason games the following two weeks at Denver and at home against the Ravens.

Right tackle Zach Tom, who went through full practice reps on Tuesday, will not play, according to LaFleur. Tom had surgery in mid-April to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

LaFleur said they will also tread carefully when it comes to playing guys that are nursing injuries, such as Josh Jacobs. Jacobs returned to practice Tuesday after missing the previous two with a groin injury.

As for Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, he said Tuesday that some of their starters will play, but that does not include starting quarterback Deshaun Watson.Instead, it will be Jameis Winston starting at quarterback opposite Love and the Packers.

It was very windy at practice Tuesday, and both Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph had trouble kicking field goals, each going just 4-for-7. In terms of injury updates, TE Tucker Kraft practiced for the first time in camp, coming off a pectoral tear. He will not play in any of the preseason games. His pectoral tear rehab buddy Zach Tom took part in team drills for the first time Tuesday, but will be held out of the preseason opener.

First round rookie Jordan Morgan dropped out of practice after individual drills. RB Josh Jacobs returned from the groin injury that kept him him out of Family Night.

Kickoff between the Packers and Browns is set for 3:25 pm central time in Cleveland.

The United States continues to build a lead on the medal count at the Paris Olympics and going into Wednesday has 86 total medals. The U.S. also took over the lead from China with 24 gold medals along with 31 silver and 31 bronze. China is next with 59 medals, including 22 gold while France is third with 48 total medals.

Former Packers quarterback Don Horn is asking for help with medical expenses. The Packers’ 2nd first-round draft pick in 1967 has started a GoFundMe page.

“Six weeks ago, I was faced with a life-threatening medical emergency that changed everything in an instant. Rushed to the ICU. I fought for my life with a mere 5% chance of survival,” Horn writes on his GoFundMe page. “Thanks to incredible strength, resilience, and the unwavering support of medical professionals, I made it through.”

Horn said he was discharged home last week. However, he will now need help with in-home care. Horn was selected 25th overall by the reigning champions in 1967 out of San Diego State.  He spent 4 seasons in Green Bay as a backup, although he did start 5 games in 1969, going 4-1.  Horn went on to play for the Broncos, Browns and Chargers.  He finished his career playing one season in the WFL.
