Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials have released the name of the 19-year-old Pharr, Texas man who was killed in a two-vehicle head on collision Thursday morning on County Highway D near Hawes Court in the Town of Fond du Lac. 911 calls reported the accident at 7:41 am. Victor Hugo Martinez was driving south on County Highway D and failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected, and entered the northbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a northbound vehicle. Martinez was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Two passengers suffered minor injuries. They were taken later to a hospital by a private vehicle. A 48-year-old Oakfield woman was driving the northbound vehicle. She was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Witnesses at the scene told investigators Martinez was speeding prior to the crash. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors to the accident. No other names were released.
