FDL COUNTY CAMPUS
One of the ways Fond du Lac County will fund improvements on the former UW-Oshkosh Fond du Lac campus is through the sale of buildings, land, and property. The Portland Street Annex, building housing the Land and Water Conservation Department, and a parcel of land known as the Rugby Field in Fond du Lac are being sold. County Executive Sam Kaufman says they will be relocated to the Fond du Lac County campus and the county will no longer have to pay for upkeep and other expenses associated with the properties. He says for some of those in social services it is a blessing because they were basically housed in a basement. Other buildings on the former college campus will find new uses such as the Gymnasium, Arts Building, Prairie Theatre, Commons, and Library. Kaufman says the restaurant part can be used to offer breakfast and lunch for those working on the campus and cater other events. The County will also use $1 million in ARPA funds for building improvements.
