Columbus Police have released the name of the 22-year-old Columbus man suspected of shooting and killing another man early Thursday morning in the city. Jonathan Javier Luna is in the Columbia County Jail awaiting an initial hearing on a first-degree intentional homicide charge. While downtown at 1:31 am on the Fourth of July an officer heard what he believed to be fireworks going off. He found a man who had suffered gunshot wounds. Life saving measures were attempted but the victim was pronounced dead a short time later at Prairie Ridge Health Center. During the subsequent investigation various video camera footage was reviewed and a suspect, Luna, was identified. He was taken into custody at 1:54 Thursday afternoon in the City of Madison.
