Charges are being brought against a 44-year-old Saint Petersburg, Florida man for a brief chase on the east side of Fond du Lac. A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy tried to pull the man over for going 115 miles an hour on State Highway 23 near Whispering Springs Drive just before 1 am this morning. The man’s vehicle was going the wrong way on State Highway 23 near U.S. Highway 151. While trying to make a turn onto Prairie Road his vehicle struck a curb and shortly after became disabled in a parking lot. There was a brief foot chase, but the man ended up complying with a deputy’s commands. The suspect was taken to the Fond du Lac County Jail. He is being held there on charges of fleeing and eluding officers, first degree recklessly endangering safety, operating while intoxicated, possession of psilocybin, and resisting and obstructing an officer. He was also cited for several traffic violations. The pursuit covered 2.1 miles.
