6/9/24 Summer Adventures at the Ripon Public Library

Ripon, WI- READY, SET, GO! Head into an adventure-themed summer with the Ripon Public Library’s something-for-everyone summer lineup!  Thanks to the Friends of the Library and other generous partners, programming is always free, and registration is not required unless noted.

FREE SUMMER EVENTS JUNE 17-20

MONDAY, JUNE 17 at 12 PM | ARMCHAIR TRAVEL: Explore the world from the comfort of the library or your own home with “Armchair Travel,” a six-week series occurring most Mondays at 12 PM in which locals share their travel adventures! Join in person or via Zoom. This week Mandy Kimes will present pictures and stories about her travels in the Dominican Republic. Bring your own snack or lunch if you wish. Cookies & beverages served. Mark your calendars for next week’s adventure to Italy with Julia Manor. Series suited to ages 10 years and up. A Zoom link is available on the library website and Facebook page.

POLLINATOR WEEK | JUNE 16-22 IN COLLABORATION WITH RIPON COLLEGE

  • TUESDAY, JUNE 18 at 1 PM | CERESCO PRAIRIE POLLINATOR WALK: Fun and informational for all ages! Dr. Ben Grady and Ripon College student researchers lead tours and discuss the importance of pollination while pointing out busy pollinators along the way. Meet behind the Willmore Center (400 Union St.) at the entrance to the Ceresco Prairie Conservancy. (RAIN DATE: THURSDAY, JUNE 20 at 1PM)
  • WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19 at 4-6 PM | POLLINATOR PALOOZA:  Dig into an assortment of fascinating pollinator-oriented activities! There will be native plant and seed giveaways, a collaborative collage art project, clay seed balls, plus information and activities to expand awareness of pollinators beyond bees and butterflies!
  • THURSDAY, JUNE 20 at 10 AM | POWER OF POLLINATORS FAMILY FUN: Family Fun features stories, music and hands-on activities with ages 3-8 years in mind but fun for the whole family! June 20 focuses on the amazing lives of pollinators. Next week’s theme is a hometown celebration and includes a visit from Officer Travis Hanke and K-9 Rony!

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19 at 6-8 PM | GAME NIGHT for ages 16 +

Calling all strategists, team players, and those who like to test their luck—enjoy an evening of tabletop board games! Staff will be on hand to teach and guide players through a variety of entertaining and easy-to-learn games with no experience necessary. Tonight features recent additions to the library’s circulating game collection, including Everdell, Earth, Flamecraft, Horrified, Parks, and Thunder Road.

Can’t make it? This recurring adult event (ages 16+) will be held in the Silver Creek Room on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

READ FOR FUN & PRIZES! Take 30 seconds to register at the library’s front desk, then every time you check out reading materials your participation is automatically logged by staff. Check out reading material 3 out of 4 weeks each month to be eligible for exciting prizes for kids, teens, and adults!

DISCOVER LOCAL nature, history, and flavor with a custom “Adventure Ripon” activity log;. Pick one up at the library. Prizes will be awarded for completion.

EXPLORE AREA LIBRARIES in person or by phone via the Winnefox “Library Explorer Passport Program.” Participation prizes will be awarded by the Winnefox Library System.

ATTEND FREE EVENTS from live animals to dungeon masters and musicians, there’s something for all ages and stages!
