Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he’ll speak at the Republican National Convention. Walker says he’s agreed to speak at the GOP gathering in Cleveland July 18-21. RNC spokesman Alee Lockman says the schedule is still being finalized. Walker acknowledged he’s now rejecting the idea that Donald Trump could be replaced as the nominee. Walker said two weeks ago that he believed delegates should be free to vote their consciences. But he also said a vote for anyone other than Trump is a “de facto vote” for Hilary Clinton. The governor, who’s been the subject of Trump attacks, says he’ll put them aside for the good of the country. Walker’s campaign spokesman didn’t immediately respond to a request for details on his speech.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court says a law that allows the state to revoke day care providers’ licenses for life is constitutional. Legislators passed a law in 2009 that allows authorities to permanently revoke licenses and certifications of day care providers convicted of welfare fraud. Racine County permanently revoked provider Sonja Blake’s certification in 2010 after a background revealed a 1986 welfare fraud conviction. Blake filed a lawsuit, arguing the law violated her rights to equal protection and due process. The Supreme Court ruled 5-2 on Wednesday that the law creates harsh results for people such as Blake but the statues advance the Legislature’s goal of reducing public benefits fraud.
