12/4/23 Town Square Art Gallery Presents Painter Leslie Paulus

4 December 2023 News

GREEN LAKE, WI, — Town Square Lobby Gallery is excited to showcase the works of Wisconsin-native painter Leslie Paulus throughout December. The exhibit is open to the public Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, and Saturday, 9 am – 1 pm at Town Square Community Center in downtown Green Lake.

Leslie Paulus, an artist deeply rooted in the Wisconsin landscape, brings her unique blend of impressionism and realism to Town Square.  Her art consists mainly of birds and people, capturing the essence and atmosphere of her subjects in great detail.

“It all started with my family’s deep appreciation of nature and art,” Leslie shares. “My art journey began with Plein Air painting, evolving over time to include bird and portrait painting. There’s something profound in capturing the beauty of nature and the depths of human expression.”

Leslie’s approach to painting, using the alla prima technique, allows her to complete her works in as little as one sitting, lending a dynamic immediacy to her pieces. Inspired by the likes of Michael Malm, Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, and William Adophe Bouguereau, her paintings not only reflect her technical skill but also her philosophical beliefs about happiness and contentment.

“My mother always said to seek not just happiness but contentment,” Leslie recalls. “In my art, I find both. It’s a constant exploration of the world around me and a tribute to the old masters whose works continue to inspire me.”
