The Packers were back on the practice field Wednesday getting ready for the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday night at Lambeau Field.

Only three players were non-participants in Green Bay’s padded practice on Wednesday: running back Aaron Jones (knee), running back AJ Dillon (groin) and receiver Jayden Reed (undisclosed). When asked about Dillon’s status, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Dillon is still battling through a groin injury that impacted his participation in practice last week. According to LaFleur, the team is “just trying to get him healthy.” For perspective, Dillon was a limited participant in both of the Packers’ walkthroughs last week, but he was never held out of practice altogether.

The limited participants in practice Wednesday were cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder), inside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (neck), defensive lineman Kenny Clark (shoulder), tight end Josiah Deguara (hip), safety Rudy Ford (biceps), outside linebacker Rashan Gary (shoulder), cornerback Eric Stokes (hamstring), receiver Dontayvion Wicks (knee) and cornerback Robert Rochell (undisclosed). As a reminder, Stokes is on the injured reserve — as is safety Darnell Savage, who was a full participant today for the first time since his practice window opened.

The Green Bay Packers signed WR Bo Melton and RB James Robinson to the practice squad. The transactions were announced Wednesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.

Melton and Robinson have both spent time on Green Bay’s practice squad and active roster this season.

In Thursday Night Football Seattle is at Dallas.  The Seahawks are 6-5 and are two games behind the first place 49ers in the NFC West.  The Cowboys are 8-3 in the NFC East and are two games behind the first place Eagles.

Aaron Rodgers’ improbable comeback from a torn Achilles tendon has taken the next step.

The New York Jets opened the 21-day practice window for the quarterback on Wednesday — exactly 11 weeks after he had surgery — with Rodgers cleared for some football activities.

Coach Robert Saleh said the four-time NFL MVP, who turns 40 on Saturday, will be limited at practice and is not cleared for contact. Saleh said there’s no added risk in taking this step, emphasizing it’s not necessarily a signal that Rodgers will play again this season as much as it is the next part of the quarterback’s rehabilitation process.

“For Aaron, what he will be doing in practice is no different than what he’d be doing on the field, with regards to certain drills and individual (drills),” Saleh said. “Instead of throwing with staff members, he’s throwing with teammates.”

At the end of the 21-day period, the Jets will have to make a decision whether to activate him or he’ll spend the rest of this season on injured reserve.

Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon four snaps into his debut with the Jets on Sept. 11 and had surgery two days later. The operation included a “speed bridge” procedure, which helps expedite the healing process. Rodgers has been progressing quickly in his rehabilitation and is still aiming to make an unprecedented quick return to the field.

The Bucks are at Chicago tonight to take on the Bulls.  Milwaukee is coming off a 131-124 victory over the Heat Tuesday night.  Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with 33 points and Damian Lillard added 32.  The Bucks are tied with Orlando for second place in the Eastern Conference, one game behind the first place Celtics.

Men’s College Basketball (Wed.)

UW-Platteville 71, Ripon College 54.  The Red Hawks drop to 1-6 on the season. Luke Meinholz led  Ripon with 17 points.

Women’s College Basketball (Wed.)

UW-Stevens Point 55, Ripon College 48.  Ripon Falls to 1-4.  Courtney Kreuger paced Ripon with 12 points while Rachel Hogan had 11.

Baltimore’s Félix Bautista was a unanimous winner of the Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award and Milwaukee’s Devin Williams won the Trevor Hoffman National League honor on Wednesday.

Bautista, a 28-year-old right-hander, was 8-2 with a 1.48 ERA and 33 saves in 39 chances for the AL East champion Orioles. He made his final appearance on Aug. 25 and had Tommy John surgery on Oct. 9, which likely will cause him to miss the 2024 season.

Williams, a 29-year-old right-hander, was 8-3 with a 1.53 ERA and 36 saves in 40 opportunities for the NL Central champion Brewers. Williams also won the award in 2020 and joined former teammate Josh Hader, Edwin Díaz, Liam Hendriks, Kenley Jansen and Craig Kimbrel as the only multiple winners of the honor, known as the Delivery Man of the Year Award from 2005-13.
