Ribbon Cutting Held For Ripon High School Tennis Courts

Officials in the Ripon Area School District held a ribbon-cutting for improvements at the high school tennis courts this week. The event was held Tuesday afternoon as part of the Homecoming Week festivities before matches with Plymouth. District Superintendent Mary Whitrock says the tennis teams were displaced after the success of the November 2014 referendum and were playing at Ripon College so this marked a return to the courts. She says they are especially grateful to the generosity of the late Audra and Doug Lyke. She says, “They were very instrumental in allowing them to expand from 6 to 8 courts, which allows the tennis match to move forward and have all of the teams on court at once.” She says lights installed on the north end of the courts will allow the public to use the courts into the evening and they have even put in lines for Pickle Ball.
