Fatal Accident Investigation

19 September 2018 News

Fond du Lac County Chief Deputy Ryan Waldschmidt says it doesn’t appear that speed, cell phone use, drugs or alcohols were factors in a fatal accident in the Town of Fond du Lac last weekend. He says 23-year-old Jacob Carlson of Poy Sippi was unfamiliar with the area when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Esterbrook and Brown Roads last Friday morning. Carlson was towing a trailer. Sixty-three-year-old Paul Thorpe of Fond du Lac hit the back of the trailer and was thrown from his vehicle, which resulted in his death. He wasn’t wearing his seat belt. The accident is still under investigation.
