10/28/23 Damn Tall Buildings Return to Perform at Thrasher Opera House

28 October 2023 News

Green Lake, Wis. – Brooklyn-based bluegrass band Damn Tall Buildings will play the historic Thrasher Opera House on Saturday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m. Savingcountrymusic.com wrote, “If you like your bluegrass served with a little punch, attitude, grit, and gravy, with that busking spirit that was so present and palpable in the early incarnations of Old Crow Medicine Show and made you realize that string band music could be so much more than fuddy-duddy reenactments by crusty ol’ relics, then the Damn Tall Buildings will slide in nice as a welcome addition to your listening rotation.”

Band members Avery Balotta (Violin, Vocals), Max Capistran (Guitar, Banjo, Vocals), and Sasha Dubrk (Upright Bass, Vocals) combine their talents to what The Boston Globe describes as “Think of The Carter Family for the millennial generation. Old Crow Medicine Show meets Edward Sharpe, with a dash of Avett Brothers and a sprinkle of Johnny Cash. The band coined the term “guerrilla roots” to describe its sound, which draws on early-20th-century Americana/bluegrass music, “repurposed for a modern audience.

Tickets for Damn Tall Buildings on November 11 at 7:30 p.m. are $25 and are available at www.thrasheroperahouse.com or by calling 920.294.4279

This event is supported in part by a grant from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
