From Wayne Mausser

The Packers (2-3) were back on the practice field on Wednesday getting ready for Sunday’s game in Denver (1-5) against the Broncos.

The Packers are hoping to have running back Aaron Jones back on the field.  Today marks three weeks since Jones was last on a football field.  In the three games he’s missed it’s been even more of a realization how important he really is for this offense.

He’s now missed 3 of last 4 games and the one he did play against Detroit that was on a snap count, which he hopes will not be the case when they play the Broncos on Sunday.

“I don’t have a crystal ball but I hope so. I do hope so hope it gives us a little confidence. They listen and see me as a leader hope I can bring that spark to them,” Jones said.

“Definitely missing piece to the puzzle that we will love having back on our offense,” added rookie wide receiver Jayden Reed.

“He’s an explosive play maker that’s a guy we need to get the ball too when he’s in,” said quarterback Jordan Love.

If Jones plays Sunday, he’ll be going up against a Broncos defense that is not good at stopping the run. They give up the most yards per carry of any team in the league.

On Wednesday the injury report listed Jones as having limited participation. Others in the same category were safety Zayne Anderson (hamstring), guard/tackle Elgton Jenkins (knee), safety Darnell Savage (calf), CB Eric Stokes (foot), LB Quay Walker (knee) and defensive lineman Devante Wyatt (knee). LB DeVondre Campbell (ankle) did not participate.

The Broncos listed six players on the injury report.

In Thursday Night Football Jacksonville (4-2) is at New Orleans (3-3). Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (knee) is listed as questionable.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell received his long-anticipated contract extension on Wednesday.

“The Compensation Committee updated the full ownership today that an agreement has been reached to extend Commissioner Roger Goodell’s contract for three years, through March 2027,” the league announced in a statement.

A person familiar with the details told The Associated Press that Goodell’s deal includes clauses for extension or succession. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because details weren’t released.

Goodell’s current contract was set to expire in spring 2024.

Financial terms of Goodell’s new contract weren’t immediately known. Goodell reportedly earned $63.9 million for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

The 64-year-old Goodell has served as commissioner since succeeding Paul Tagliabue in 2006. He began his NFL career as an administrative intern in 1982 under then-Commissioner Pete Rozelle.
