Three people from Waupun were injured, one critically, when a vehicle and motorcycle collided on State Highway 49 south of Fond du Lac County Highway E in the Town of Alto Thursday evening. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say an 84-year-old woman was turning left on State Highway 49 into a private driveway when a northbound motorcycle struck the rear passenger side door of the vehicle. The woman and her passenger, an 85-year-old man, were taken to Waupun Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. ThedaStar helicopter flew the 28-year-old man operating the motorcycle to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with life-threatening injuries. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. Assisting at the scene were Alto Fire Department, Life Star Ambulance, Ripon Guardian Ambulance, Waupun Police Department, the State Patrol, and the Fond du Lac County Highway Department. The time of the accident was 6:40 pm.
