HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN APPROVED FOR GREEN LAKE COUNTY EMPLOYEES
Green Lake County Supervisors this past week approved a health insurance plan for employees for 2024. Supervisor Luke Dretske says they are going from a high deductible plan with a Health Savings Account to a low deductible plan with a flex spending account. He notes that the county is already facing a projected deficit of about $250,000 for next year’s budget and the new health insurance plan will add to that deficit. He says it will add at least another $180,000 to their costs. He feels that those who criticize the county for not providing a good benefit package for employees couldn’t be more wrong. Dretske points out the county will be covering about 88 percent of the costs for the new health insurance program. He says the percentage is more than most city and county governments and some private industry cover for their employees.
SIGN AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS REPORTED
Green Lake County Chief Deputy Matt Vande Kolk says the Crime Stoppers program could use some tips about sign and catalytic converter thefts that have occurred over the past few months. He says a variety of signs were taken. In the Town of Brooklyn a street sign, stop sign, and keep right sign were taken and other signs were taken in the southern part of the county as well. He says it may seem inconsequential, but it is expensive to replace the signs and depending on the sign it may pose a danger for drivers. Four catalytic converter thefts also occurred. The reports came from the Town of Brooklyn, Town of Green Lake, and City of Green Lake. Anyone with information about the thefts is being urged to call the Green Lake County Crime Stoppers phone number 1-800-GET-THEM, that’s 1-800-438-8436. You can also text GETTHEM at 847411. Tips may be eligible for up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of suspects. You can report your tips anonymously.
