9/24/23 Escaped Inmate Quickly Caught

Oshkosh Police say an escape from the Drug Abuse Correctional Center was short-lived. This morning at 12:25 am Police reported an inmate had escaped from the minimum-security facility operated by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Thirty-three-year-old Brian Esser was convicted for vehicle theft, fleeing an officer, and possession of cocaine, narcotics, and methamphetamine, and bail jumping. Oshkosh Police, assisted by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, and police from Appleton and Kaukauna began a search of the area. Less than an hour later at 1:22 am Esser was taken into custody without incident near the intersection of State Highway 76 and Interstate 41.
