15 August 2023 News

A 22-year-old Fond du Lac man Tuesday morning pled no contest to an attempted first degree intentional homicide charge. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered for Vickendrika Jones, his $1 million bond was revoked, and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 30th. Two other charges were read into the record and dismissed. Jones stabbed a man outside the Press Box Tavern in Fond du Lac early the morning of August 6th of 2022. According to the criminal complaint the victim hadn’t realized he had been stabbed until he got into his girlfriend’s car and she took him to St. Agnes Hospital. The victim had been stabbed three times with a knife in the chest, just above the waist, and in the upper right leg. A surgeon who worked on the victim told investigators the victim had three holes in his smaller intestine and without surgery would have died. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says, “The Fond du Lac Police Department completed an exceptional investigation that led to this conviction and we’re grateful for the medical professionals at St. Agnes Hospital that saved the victim’s life. Jones could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison and up to 25 years of extended supervision.
