The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the 39-year-old Fond du Lac man that drowned at the Breezy Hill Campground in the Town of Byron Thursday evening. Paul Becker became trapped underneath an inflatable floating dock in a swimming pond at the campground. When two Sheriff’s deputies with the Sheriff’s Dive Team arrived, they removed their patrol gear and entered the water before their equipment arrived, to begin search efforts. Becker’s body was recovered in 10 feet of water, and he was brought to shore where emergency medical personnel began resuscitation efforts. An ambulance took him to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac where doctors pronounced him dead.

A Fond du Lac man who works for an organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities drowned at the Breezy Hill Campground in the Town of Byron last evening. The Fond du Lac County Communication Center got a 911 call at 5:49 pm about a person trapped underneath an inflatable floating dock in a swimming pond at the campground. Two deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team removed their patrol gear and entered the water before their equipment arrived, to begin search efforts. At 6:26 pm the man was recovered in 10 feet of water and was brought to shore where emergency medical personnel began resuscitation efforts. He was taken to St. Agnes Hospital. Doctors there pronounced him dead at 7:24 pm. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
