Two men drown in separate incidents in Waushara County’s Towns of Springwater and Marion last Saturday. County Dispatch got a call at 5:30 pm about a 44-year-old man who tried to swim to shore from a boat on Long Lake and went under the water. He was located and life saving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful. Sheriff’s Deputies, the DNR, Waushara County EMS, County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Saxeville Fire Department responded to that call. At 7:08 pm the County Dispatch received another 911 call reporting a 37-year-old man who entered the water from a boat on Silver Lake, went under the water and could not be located. The Wautoma, Neshkoro and Princeton Dives Teams responded. The next morning his body was recovered. The State Patrol, Town of Marion Boat Patrol, Wautoma Police, DNR, Waushara County Emergency Management, County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Sheriff’s Office were involved in the recovery effort.
