31 July 2023 News

Fire destroyed an apartment building in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Taycheedah Sunday displacing the 14 people who lived in it. Sheriff’s officials say they began receiving multiple 911 calls about the fire at the Meadowlark Village Apartments at N7355 Spring Street at 10:06 am. When deputies arrived there were a large amount of flames coming from the second level of the building, which is the middle building of the three-building apartment complex. Tenants were evacuating and one of them escaped through a second-floor window. No one was injured during the blaze. The building sustained heavy fire and water damage and is believed to be a total loss. The property is owned by Hill Properties LLC. The American Red Cross assisted those displaced by the fire. The two other buildings sustained minor heat damage to their sidings and are still habitable. It is believed the fire started on the second floor. A Sheriff’s fire investigator is investigating the cause. Twenty area fire departments were involved in fighting the fire.
