Elias Díaz hit a two-run homer off Félix Bautista in the eighth inning, and the National League snapped a nine-game losing streak in the All-Star Game with a 3-2 win over the American League on Tuesday night.

The NL won for the first time since an 8-0 victory in 2012 in Kansas City thanks to Díaz, a catcher who became the first Rockies player to win the All-Star MVP award.

Díaz, who was non-tendered by the Pirates at the end of 2019, drove a 2-2 pitch from Baltimore’s hard-throwing closer deep to left to put the NL in front. Díaz was the lone representative for Colorado in his first All-Star Game appearance.

He has nine homers this season, but hadn’t hit a long ball since June 23 against the Los Angeles Angels.

For most of the night, the All-Star Game was a pitchers’ duel highlighted by a couple big hits and some excellent defense.

It got nervous for the NL in the ninth. Wander Franco flied out to the warning track leading off against Philadelphia closer Craig Kimbrel, who issued two-out walks to Kyle Tucker and Seattle star Julio Rodríguez.

Kimbrel recovered to strike out José Ramírez to end it. Kimbrel also pitched in the previous NL win, recording two outs in 2012.

Yandy Díaz hit a solo homer in the second inning and Bo Bichette’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning gave the AL a 2-1 lead.

J.D. Martinez doubled and scored on Luis Arraez’s single in the fourth against Seattle’s George Kirby, tying it at 1. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. appeared to tie the game again in the seventh when his shot down the left-field line was originally ruled a homer but was overturned as a foul ball on replay.

Pitching was the story of the night. Only nine balls were hit over 100 mph. There were 20 combined strikeouts, including Camilo Doval silencing the home crowd with a strikeout of Rodríguez in the seventh inning where four of the five pitches topped 100 mph. In the Northwood’s League Tuesday the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders snapped a two-game losing streak and beat the Rockford Rivets 7-5.

The Dock Spiders will be back at home on Wednesday for a doubleheader against the Wausau Woodchucks.. Tickets are currently available at dockspiders.com or by calling the ticket office at (920) 907-9833. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 11:35 A.M. Game two is scheduled for 6:35 P.M.

Hunters and anglers who make their way to Wisconsin will soon be facing a larger fee for their licenses.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says nonresident hunting and fishing license fees will be increasing by as much as $40. This is the first license fee increase for residents or nonresidents since 2005.

The DNR says the increase is due to the state budget signed into law by Gov. Tony Evers last week..

Hunting and fishing licenses can be purchased online, at any DNR Service Center or from an authorized sales agent location.

Licenses for the 2023-24 season are valid through March 31, 2024.

Wisconsin’s Watt brothers continue making history – and this time it’s Wheaties history.

Now-retired defensive end J.J. Watt and his still-playing sibling T.J. are set to become the first brothers to appear side-by-side together on the famous orange cereal boxes, the cereal maker revealed Tuesday morning. They will also be the first duo to share the front of the box since 1934, the company noted.

Wheaties says customers should start seeing the new boxes on store shelves early next month.

Lambeau Field has the hearts of Green Bay Packers fans all over the world, and many seem to think it embodies love as well. Green Bay’s Lambeau has been identified as a top marriage proposal landmark, according to a recent survey.

A survey from Mixbook polled 3,000 single people to collect a list of the 250 most iconic American landmarks for proposals. These were the landmarks where the singles said they’d want to be proposed to.

The Sunset Cliffs in California may top the charts as the best spot for a marriage proposal in America, but Wisconsin scored seven spots on the list.

Lambeau Field came in as the 128th favorite American landmark for a proposal. Another Northeast Wisconsin spot included was Fond du Lac’s Lakeside Park, coming in at 191.
