7/11/23 Coloma Pallet Fire Mostly Contained

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reported late last night that a roughly 400-acre Pallet Fire in Waushara County, southeast of Coloma was 99 percent contained. DNR fire crews and local agencies battled the blaze. Local law enforcement and emergency management officials completed a few evacuations in the area. A few structures were lost in the fire. The Pallet Fire traveled northeast and burned in pine and mixed hardwoods along Cumberland Avenue and north of Highway 21. Officials say gusty winds and drought conditions contributed to erratic fire behavior. The cause of the wildfire is still under investigation. Among the local fire departments that sent personnel and fire engines to the fire were Campbellsport, Eden, Ripon, Brownsville, Markesan, and Waupun.
