6/24/23 Ripon Woman Found Guilty in Drug Overdose Death

24 June 2023 News

Following a one-week jury trial a Fond du Lac County jury Friday found a 55-year-old Ripon woman guilty of first-degree reckless homicide as a party to a crime and eight other felony charges. Charges against Carla Endeward stem from the drug overdose death of Scott Endeward that occurred in the City of Ripon on March 5th of 2020 and three other overdoses. Endeward is currently incarcerated at Taycheedah Correctional Institution but the charges she was found guilty of could mean over 40 additional years in prison. District Attorney Eric Toney says the jury convicted her for assisting in the setting up of drug deals, through phone calls, and allowing others to use drugs and overdose in her residence. According to the criminal complaint she waited more than an hour before getting a neighbor to help take the victim to a hospital where he died. An autopsy found cocaine, fentanyl, and other drugs in the victim’s system. Ripon Police Chief Bill Wallner says, “I want to thank the staff and investigators of our department for their dedication in this case. Their hard work and willingness to pursue this case shows the incredible staff that serves this community.” A pre-sentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing hearing will be scheduled.
