6/23/23 Seven Dairy Workers Sentenced in Green Lake County Sex Trafficking Case

23 June 2023 News

An investigation in Green Lake County into a case of sex trafficking has resulted in seven dairy workers being sentenced to federal prison. A federal prosecutor announced Thursday that all seven pled guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking. Six of the seven were from Green Lake County and the other from Sun Prairie. The men ranged in age from 21 to 42 years of age and their prison terms ranged from 2 years to more than 7 years in prison. According to court documents, on multiple dates between June and November 2019, one of the defendants, Julio “Cesar” Veleta Veleta, transported the victim, a 16-year-old girl between Dane County and Green Lake County to perform sex acts for dairy farm workers. Another defendant, Evis Garcia Rivera, both paid for sex with the victim and promoted her availability within the Guatemalan national farm worker community in Green Lake County.  The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office uncovered the conspiracy on Thanksgiving night in 2019, when the victim called 911.
