Adrian Houser pitched seven sparkling innings and Andruw Monasterio hit his first career homer, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

Victor Caratini also went deep as Milwaukee (32-27) won for the fourth time in five games. The NL Central-leading Brewers also clinched their first road series win since they swept a three-game set at Seattle from April 17-19.

Houser (2-1) allowed six hits, including Jake Fraley’s seventh homer in the seventh. He struck out two and walked none.

Cincinnati (26-33) dropped its fourth straight game. Reds right-hander Ben Lively (3-3) was charged with five runs and six hits in seven innings in his first loss since May 19.

Milwaukee got off to a fast start. With runners on first and second via a pair of walks, Monasterio hit a 400-foot drive to center for a 3-0 lead in the first.

The Brewers added two more in the fifth. Caratini led off with a 429-foot drive to right-center for his third homer of the season. Joey Wiemer then singled, advanced on Christian Yelich’s walk and scored on Owen Miller’s single to center.

Matt McLain had two of Cincinnati’s six hits. The rookie shortstop is batting .342 in his first 18 big league games.

Milwaukee optioned right-hander Jake Cousins to Triple-A Nashville and recalled left-hander Bennett Sousa.

Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott, who was added to the club’s taxi squad Sunday, will make his MLB debut Monday night against Brewers right-hander Julio Teheran (1-1, 0.82 ERA) in the finale of the four-game series.  First pitch is at 6:10 at Great American Ballpark.

Elsewhere in the NL Central Sunday the Pirates edged the Cardinals 2-1 and the Cubs beat the Padres 7-1.  The Brewers lead the Pirates by a half-game in the division with the Cubs 5 ½ back, the Cubs 6 games back and the Cardinals, 7 ½ out.

Brewers shortstop Willy Adames went deep in his lone rehab game with the Timber Rattlers, but Wisconsin fell to Peoria 6-5 in ten innings.

Adames was working out with the Brewers minor league affiliate on Friday and Saturday while on the concussion injured list. Sunday he went 2-4 with a double and home run as the designated hitter for the Rattlers.

A week earlier Adames was hit in the head by a foul ball while he was in the dugout during a game against the Giants.

There are no games in the Midwest League today.

It was all Woodchucks in game one of the two game series versus the Dock Spiders on Sunday afternoon as the Dock Spiders couldn’t register a hit, and the Woodchucks won 3-1.

Wood Chucks starting pitcher Ethan Pecko (Towson) forced the dock spiders to go down 1-2-3 in every inning until the top of the fifth. Pecko had a perfect game going into the top of the fifth when Dock Spiders third basemen Luke Novitske (Cal State East Bay) worked a walk to put a Dock Spider on base for the first time all day. Pecko was able to get the Woodchucks out of the inning getting Dock Spiders newcomer Sam Busch (Michigan State) to fly out to the left fielder to end the inning. After that blip of an inning,

Both teams will square off again in Wausau tonight. First Pitch is slated for 6:05 PM.

Current packers called the ‘Stars’ took home a trophy from Fox Cities Stadium Sunday night.  They beat former players led by Donald Driver and Jordy Nelson 12-11 in the Donald Driver Charity Softball Game.

The game gives supporters of the Green and Gold a chance to get up close and personal with their favorite players, both past and present and Fox Cities Stadium was sold out.

Former wide receiver Jordy Nelson said it’s always fun to come back to Northeast Wisconsin: “For some reason, I feel like I’m surprised every time I walk in here and it’s a full stadium, cars bumper-to-bumper waiting to get in. I don’t know why I’m surprised but I always am.”

The game raised $250,000 for the Donald Driver Foundation this year.

The Miami Heat won game two of the NBA Finals in Denver Sunday night 111-108 to even up their best of seven-game series.  The Heat used another fourth quarter come-from behind rally to win.

Down by as many as 15 in the first half, the Heat climbed their way back into yet another game by leaning on Gabe Vincent, who scored a team-high 23 points and hit several key shots for a team that had to pick up Butler, who struggled to find his offensive rhythm until making some critical shots late. Butler finished with 21 points.

Duncan Robinson scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter for Miami. Max Strus added 14 for the night after going 0-for-10 in Game 1.  Bam Adebayo had another big outing with 21 points and nine rebounds. Kevin Love, who hadn’t played since Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, started and grabbed 10 rebounds in 22 minutes.

On the PGA Tour Viktor Hovland won the Memorial at Muirfield Village Sunday on the first hole of a playoff over Denny McCarthy with a stirring comeback.

Two shots behind and facing the three hardest holes at Muirfield Village, Hovland set his sights on a score instead of the leader, Denny McCarthy, and then delivered his best stuff of the day.

Hovland holed a 30-foot birdie putt — the only birdie of the day at No. 17 — around two par saves for a 2-under 70 that got him into a playoff, and then he beat the hard-luck McCarthy with a 7-foot par to win the Memorial.  It was Hovland’s fourth career PGA Tour win.

In Nascar Kyle Busch scored his third victory of the season Sunday, holding off the field on five restarts in the final 45 laps at World Wide Technology Raceway. Busch’s previous two wins this season were at Fontana and Talladega. Sunday’s win is the 63rd of his Cup career.

Denny Hamlin finished second, followed by Joey Logano, Kyle Larson and Martin Truex to round out the top five finishers.

In women’s professional basketball Saturday night at the Oshkosh Arena, the Wisconsin Glo lost to Flynt, 82-73.  The Glo (1-1) are back in action this Saturday and Sunday at home against St. Louis.  Saturday night’s game begins at 7:00 and Sunday’s game starts at 3:00.
