5/19/23 Two Killed in FDL County Traffic Crash

A two-vehicle head-on crash on State Highway 23 near Heinrich Road in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Lamartine early Thursday afternoon claimed the lives of both drivers. The County’s Communications Center received multiple emergency calls about the crash. Sheriff’s officials say a 19-year-old Rosendale woman was heading east when she crossed over the center line and crashed head on into a westbound vehicle driven by a 64-year-old Ripon man. Both drivers died at the scene. No one else was in those vehicles. Witnesses told investigators the eastbound vehicle had crossed over the center line at least once before the crash. The accident is still under investigation but based on witness statements it is believed the Rosendale woman may have been distracted by her cell phone. The accident was reported about 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
