4/26/23 Pair of Sex Offenders Being Released from Prison Will Live in Oshkosh

Oshkosh Police say a pair of sex offenders will be released from prison and will be living in the city as of May 16th.  Fifty-one-year-old James Gieringer and 28-year-old Darius Kent have no residences lined up yet for when they are released.

In 2017 Kent (pictured above) was convicted of 10 counts of possession of child pornography. The victims were girls between the ages of 1 and 11 years old. In 2008 Gieringer (pictured top) was convicted of child enticement and possession of child pornography. He was targeting an 11-year-old boy and was arrested as a result of an undercover law enforcement investigation. During the investigation, it was discovered that he was in possession of approximately 5,000 images of child pornography.

Both men will be on electronic monitoring. Kent will be on probation and parole until May 23rd, 2031. Gieringer is on probation and parole until November 29th, 2028. Kent is currently incarcerated at Oshkosh Correctional and Gieringer at Racine Correctional.
