The Brewers hung on to defeat the Seattle Mariners Tuesday night 6-5 in 11 innings.  Bryse Wilson got Julio Rodriquez to hit into a game-ending force out with the bases loaded to preserve the victory on a frigid night at T-Mobile Park.

Willy Adames drove in the winning run in the top of the 11th on a groundout, is third RBI of the game.

Christian Yelich opened the night with his fifth career leadoff homer and third of the season and finished with three hits.  Willy  Adames hit a solo homer in the sixth, his fourth of the year.

Brewers starter Colin Rea went five innings, giving up four runs on five hits, while striking out two and walking two. Wilson (1-0) picked up the win.

Mariners starter Logan Gilbert lasted six innings, giving  up four runs on five hits, while striking out eight and issuing no walks. Justin Topa (0-1) took the loss.

Rookie center fielder Garrett Mitchel left the game in the bottom of the 10th inning after uncorking a throw home. He has a right shoulder injury and will be examined when the Brewers get back to Milwaukee

Milwaukee is 13-5 overall largely on the strength of a surprisingly stout bullpen, which added six more innings without an earned run and leads the Majors with a 1.91 ERA.

The teams close out their series this afternoon as left-hander Eric Lauer (2-1) starts for Milwaukee against Seattle lefty Marco Gonzales (1-0).  First pitch is at 3:10 CDT.

Elsewhere in the NL Central Tuesday Tampa Bay shutout Cincinnati 10-0, the Diamondbacks edged the Cardinals 8-7, Pittsburgh downed Colorado 5-3 and the Cubs shutout the A’s 4-0.

Head coach Mike Budenholzer used the word “optimistic” again when talking about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s back injury on Tuesday. Still, the team listed their star as doubtful for game two on their initial injury report after sitting out at practice.

“We have 24 plus hours before gametime. He’ll get treatment we’ll see how he feels. I think there’s been a lot of progress, and hopefully there’s more in the next day or so if I’m being honest i think there’s an optimism. Time is on our side, but that equation will flip. So, I would say we’re optimistic,” said Mike Budenholzer.

Antetokounmpo left Sunday’s game against Miami with what the team called a lower back contusion after crashing to the floor in the first quarter. The Bucks fell behind by double digits early with Giannis on the floor for just eleven minutes, and were unable to slow down the Heat and Jimmy Butler in the 130-117 loss.

“It’s a day to day league. I understand that and I think the rest of the guys on our team do as well. What happened on Sunday doesn’t dictate what happens the rest of the way. It’s one game but that one game is a big game cause every game is a big game. One thing I learned about our team is we’re battle tested. We’ve been through a lot of different situations that have helped us all gain a different type of experience,” said Bobby Portis.

Game two between the Bucks and Heat is set for Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wis.

In the NBA Playoffs Tuesday night Boston beat Atlanta 119-106 to take a 2-0 lead in their series.  The Cavaliers beat the Knicks 107-90 to tie their series at a game-each.  The Suns beat the Clippers 123-109 to even up their series at 1-1.
