3/4/23 Award-Winning Artist Featured at Town Square Lobby Gallery

4 March 2023 News

GREEN LAKE, WI, – The Town Square Lobby Gallery will feature the
work of Milwaukee native Mark Kanitz for the month of March. The gallery is open during Town
Square’s regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m – 5 p.m.

Kanitz has won several awards for his painting including being named Wisconsin Wildlife
Federation’s artist of the year eight times. He recently won the Wisconsin DNR pheasant stamp
contest. His passion is creating original artwork on shed antlers and other unique mediums.
“It’s the perfect time of the year to showcase Mark Kanitz’s beautiful work,” Kris Anderson, Town
Square Executive Director said. “As the seasons are changing outside, the lobby is brightened
up with naturalistic art.”

Kanitz grew up in Milwaukee but has always enjoyed and been fascinated by nature and the
outdoors. He earned a degree in Wildlife Management from UW-Stevens Point. Mark was
inspired by other wildlife artists’ works which gave him the motivation to try painting himself. He
found his niche as a wildlife artist when he combined his hobby of shed antler hunting with
painting. It’s very fulfilling for Kanitz to search for and find a special antler and then use his
natural talent to create a unique painted antler piece. Adding sculpture and replication have
made the possibilities endless. Mark feels very blessed by his talent and enjoys sharing it with
others.

Town Square Community Center is located at 492 Hill Street in Green Lake. The Lobby Gallery
