The victim told investigators Lund had been abusive during their relationship. Lund waived her right to a preliminary hearing and an arraignment has been scheduled for March 6th.

Fremont Man Arrested For Pulling Gun on Wautoma Police Officer

Wautoma Police Tuesday arrested a Fremont man who pulled a loaded gun when an officer tried to arrest him on an active warrant. Police were dispatched to a Kwik Trip store at 935 East Main Street for a man who was sleeping in a bathroom. An officer arrived and made contact with Joseph Lasecki asking him if he was tired, wanted food or coffee, or needed a ride. The officer learned Lasecki was wanted on an arrest warrant. Lasecki drew a loaded gun from his waist and the two struggled for the gun falling to the ground. Store employees called 911 and a Waushara County Sheriff’s deputy arrived to help the officer take Lasecki into custody. Lasecki and the officer were treated for minor injuries. Reckless endangerment, carrying a concealed weapon, failure to comply with arrest, and resisting arrest charges have been referred against Lasecki to the Waushara County District Attorney’s Office.

BGCTC Capital Campaign

The Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area has launched an ambitious $10 million capital campaign for the facility it is planning to build in Ripon. Club CEO Jason Presto says they’ve already raised $7.5 million but would like to raise the remaining $2.5 million by May so they can break ground on the project. The club will serve about 700 kids a year and about 150 on a daily basis. Presto says there are a lot of benefits to having a Boys & Girls Club in your community and Ripon will have some programs unique to its facility. Discussions on bringing a club to Ripon began seven years ago and a committee found there was a need. Ashley Bartol of the club says they are excited to see the dream of bringing a club to Ripon being realized. Donations to the capital campaign can be made on the club’s website or by mailing them to P.O. Box 344, Ripon Wisconsin 54971.

Educating Voters

A Berlin City Alderman didn’t feel comfortable spending American Rescue Plan Act funds to “Educate” voters about the City’s need to pass a referendum seeking to levy $250,000 in additional taxes for operational expenses.  Alderman Luke Dretske voted against spending $10,000 in ARPA funds to “Educate” voters about the April referendum. He says they are really hiring a firm to try and influence voters. Dretske says voters in Berlin will also be asked to pass a couple of referendums for the school district asking for permission to exceed the district’s revenue cap by $2.5 million a year for five years and to spend $20 million for improvements at the Elementary and High Schools.

Dental Health

Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says it is important not to dismiss dental health as a key ingredient in your overall health. She says when you are preparing for some type of surgery it is not uncommon for a doctor to advise you to take care of your dental health needs first because of the risk of infection if your dental health isn’t good. The Fond du Lac County Health Department has a program called “Save a Smile” that provides some dental care for people on medical assistance. They aren’t currently accepting any adult clients, but will accept children who need dental care. Mueller recommends giving the health department a call at 920-929-3085 if you’re interested in knowing more about the program.

The closure only affects the handgun range, and the rifle and shotgun ranges will remain open. Range users are encouraged to check the range webpage for updates on the closure.
