2/20/23 Fire Destroys Building in the Town of Ripon

Firefighters from the Ripon Area Fire District were dispatched to Hahn Trucking on Hall and Douglas Street in the Town of Ripon just before 5 pm Sunday night for a fire. Officials say when police and fire units arrived they encountered a building heavily involved in fire. A defense operation was established to protect exposures and assist the owner of the property in moving trucks and vehicles away from the building. Fire departments from Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Winnebago counties were called in to assist. The fire was ultimately brought under control, but the building was a total loss. No injuries were reported. The building contained several semi-tractor trucks filled with diesel fuel. Officials say it appears the fire caused several of the diesel tanks to rupture which resulted in the diesel fuel spilling on the ground. The DNR was notified of the spill. The cause of the fire is being determined. McDonald’s and Dominos donated food for firefighters and first responders at the scene.
