FDL County Drug Bust
Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says one of the department’s K9s had another great find overnight Saturday sniffing out drugs during a traffic stop. Purchase of replacement Large Power Transformers is a must to protect the nation’s electric grid.” U.S. jets have shot down 4 objects over 8 days including a Chinese spy balloon. In addition to the balloon shot down off the coast of South Carolina and yesterday’s object over Lake Huron, jets have shot down objects over Canada and Alaska.
Brandon Man Sent To Prison For Having Sex With a Minor
A 48-year-old Brandon man has been sentenced to six years in prison for having sex with a minor. Dean Krohn was sentenced in Dodge County court last Friday. Last November a jury found him guilty of five felonies including child enticement, soliciting a child for prostitution, and having sex with a child. Once his prison term is completed he will be placed on extended supervision for four years.
Customs Scam
You’re called by an agent with U.S. Customs who says a package recovered at the U.S./Mexico border containing drugs and money was sent to them by you. They tell you the only way to avoid an active warrant for your arrest is to wire them money via bitcoin. A Columbia County Sheriff’s official says that’s the nightmare scenario for the latest scam. Detective Sergeant Leda Wagner says law enforcement would not call someone for the purpose of collecting money to avoid an arrest warrant, especially not through a crypto account. She says if you get such a call hang up and block that phone number. If someone calls asking for your personal information for a similar reason don’t give them any information. She recommends reporting those types of call to your local law enforcement.

Hearing Loop an Asset For The Ripon Senior Center
One of the features of the new Grace and Lloyd Mitchell Senior Activity Center in Ripon is a device that will aid the hearing-impaired. It’s called a hearing loop. The way it works is similar to a bluetooth device. When someone is using a microphone during an event at the center what they are saying or singing will be broadcast right to a person’s hearing aid. Senior Center Director Noreen Johnson says most hearing aids these days have that capability. She says hearing aids and apps usually can be switched off if people don’t want to pick up that sound. Johnson says the hearing loop will be a real asset for the center.

Sturgeon Season Day Two
Sturgeon spearing slowed down on the second day of the season Sunday with only 261 fish taken on Lake Winnebago and the Upriver Lakes. On Lake Winnebago 211 sturgeon were registered and on the Upriver Lakes only 50. The Pipe registration station continues to see the highest harvest of the season, with a daily total of 59 fish. Five fish taken yesterday were over 100 pounds. Samuel O’Connell (pictured) speared a gigantic 162.6 pound fish that measured 76.1 inches in length. He took that female sturgeon on Lake Poygan. The last fish comparable in size taken on an Upriver lake was in 2012. Warm weather prevented may spearers from taking to the ice. About 3,000 fewer ice shanties were on the ice at the start of the season Saturday. Through the first two days of the season a total of 783 fish were taken on Lake Winnebago and the Upriver Lakes and 26 of them have weighed more than 100 pounds.
