Connor Essegian scored 17 points, Chucky Hepburn added 15 and Wisconsin held off Ohio State 65-60 on Thursday night for the Buckeyes’ third straight loss.
Wisconsin led 62-47 with 7:18 remaining before Ohio State scored the next 13 points to get within 62-60. The Badgers missed their final nine field goals and Hepburn made 3 of 4 foul shots in the last 24 seconds to blunt the late Ohio State rally.
Despite Ohio State’s 16 turnovers, Wisconsin allowed the Buckeyes to hang around as the Badgers made just 13 of 22 foul shots.
Steven Crowl scored half of his 14 points as part of 9-0 Wisconsin run early in the first half and Max Klesmit scored 12 for the Badgers (13-8 overall and 5-6 Big 10).
It was the lone regular-season game between the two teams. The Badgers host Northwestern on Sunday. Ohio State plays at Michigan also on Sunday.
The Bucks edged the Los Angeles Clippers last night in Milwaukee 106-105 for their sixth straight win. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 54 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead the way. He was 21-39 from the field. It was the third game in the last 11 that Antetoounmpo scored at least 50 points.
Khris Middleton had 16 and Jrue Holiday added 12 for Milwaukee. Norman Powell led the Clippers with 27 pointsn Nicholas Baum had 24, Marcus Morris Sr. had 23 and Terrance Mann chipped in with 21.
The Central Division leading Bucks improved to 35-17 overall, two games behind the Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
The Pro Bowl Game is Sunday in Las Vegas. It’s the first-ever Flag Football game between stars from the AFC and NFC.

The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Westchester Knicks 115-111 Wednesday night. The Herd opened the game with back-to-back three pointers and continued to hit three more to go five for nine (55.6%) in the first quarter. The Knicks completed a costly run in the second quarter to go ahead by 19 points at the half. The Herd tallied seven consecutive three-point shots to start the third quarter. Wisconsin outscored Westchester 20-10 to tie the game 106-106 in the fourth quarter. The two teams traded the lead five times before the Knicks ran away with the win.
The Herd was led by A.J. Green with 24 points while Joe Wieskamp added 18 points off the bench. Alize Johnson recorded his third double-double in a row with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
The Herd stays at home to take on the Windy City Bulls on Friday, February 3 with tip-off at 7:00 p.m. CST.
For tonight only, the Herd will change its name to “Her” to support women’s empowerment.

The overall jersey and shorts are purple, white, and green to symbolize women’s equality.
