1/5/23 New FDL County Sheriff’s K9 Unit Makes First Big Drug Bust

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s K9 handler Nathan Birkholz and his dog Rip arrested two Wisconsin Rapids residents and seized a pound each of cocaine and marijuana during a traffic stop Wednesday night. Deputy Birkholz was patrolling Interstate 41 when he noticed a vehicle with an equipment violation. The vehicle exited on Hickory Street and was pulled over. During the stop Rip indicated there was drugs in the vehicle and the cocaine and marijuana were found. A 30-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were taken into custody. While being taken into custody the man became combative, but became cooperative when Rip was retrieved from the squad car. The man and woman are facing cocaine and marijuana trafficking and maintaining a drug trafficking place charges. In addition the man is being charged with resisting an officer and was placed on a probation hold because he was on probation from previous drug convictions.  (Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s photo).
