The Dodge County Sheriff’s and Medical Examiner’s Offices are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 29-year-old Neosho man. The man’s body was found lying in the Rubicon River, just west of State Highway 67 in Neosho Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says at this point no foul play is suspected but their investigation into the cause of death is continuing. Meanwhile, he reminds residents to use caution if they are going out on the ice. He says while the ice may seem sturdy in some locations, it may break easily in others. He suggests using the buddy system when going out on the ice, wearing a floatation device, and taking other safety precautions. Multiple fire responders and law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene including the State Patrol, Hartford Fire and EMS, and the Neosho Fire Department and First Responders.
