The hits keep coming for the Green Bay Packers. Pass rusher Rashan Gary tore his ACL during the loss to the Lions in Detroit Sunday and is lost for the season.
Gary was carted to the locker room after suffering the injury during the third quarter. Gary was heading for a lucrative second contract with the team.
Gary was one of several players injured in the game: WR Romeo Doubs (ankle), RB Aaron Jones (ankle), CB Eric Stokes (knee, ankle), DE Rashan Gary (knee) WR Christian Watson (concussion) and LB Krys Barnes (concussion). Coach Matt LaFleur said Monday Watson’s injury was not a concussion and he should be ready for the next game.
Rapoport reports that Doubs has a high ankle sprain and could miss 4-6 weeks.
De’Vondre Campbell took to Twitter to connect injuries to the turf at stadiums like Ford Field in Detroit.
“This is two weeks in a row we’ve had players get injured on turf fields. I think it’s time y’all take some of the money y’all make off us and invest in grass fields for every team around the league. The turf is literally like concrete it has no give when you plant”.
