11/4/22 Separate Concerts at Ripon College Sunday

RIPON — The Ripon College Chamber Singers/Concert Choir and Symphonic Wind Ensemble each will perform at concert Sunday, Nov. 6. Both concerts will be presented in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will perform at 3:15 p.m. Assistant Professor of Music Paul Thompson is the director, and Adjunct Instructor of Music Deb MacKenzie is the pianist.
This will be the first performance for the newly created Concert Choir. Kylar Kinyon ’23, a music education major from Benton Harbor, Michigan, will conduct part of the Concert Choir program.
Chamber Singers will be joined by a string quartet featuring both students and community members. Selections include “Five Hebrew Love Songs,” by Eric Whitacre; two quartets by Brahms; and the Midwest debut of “Kyrie,” by Jimmy Howe, a Colorado composer.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform at 7 p.m. Assistant Professor of Music Tobin Shucha is the director.
Selections include “Danzon,” by Leonard Bernstein; “October,” by Eric Whitacre; “Suite from ‘Hamilton,’” by Lin-Manuel Miranda; “Mother Earth (A Fanfare),” by David Maslanka; “Prelude, Siciliano and “Rondo,” by Malcolm Arnold’ and “Barnum & Bailey’s Favorite,” by Karl L. King.
Claire Lefeber ’23, a music education major from Waunakee, Wisconsin, will conduct the Maslanka piece.
