18 October 2022 News
A Ripon man is running for the State Treasurer’s Office for a third time. Andrew Zuelke ran for the office in 2014 and 2018 as a member of the Constitution Party. He says in 2018 state voters voted down a referendum to eliminate the office and he would like to add some additional responsibilities back to it. He says one of the duties that was stripped from it was educating people about unclaimed property or money that state has that might belong to them. He says the EdVest college savings program and local government investment pool could also be added back .He would also like to work with other groups to rewrite the state tax code, and would like to see the personal property tax eliminated. Zuelke says the office should also be able to educate residents about identity thefts and the latest scams. He also believes that the state should only fund things that are constitutional. There are also Republican and Democratic candidates running for State Treasurer.
