FDL Man Suspected Of Secretly Taping Girls Bound Over For Trial
The 19-year-old Fond du Lac man who allegedly used a cell phone to secretly record teenage girls in a bathroom at a Lomira farm has been bound over for trial. This past week Roberto Cardoza waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Dodge County court. The farm’s owner contacted authorities last month reporting two girls employed by the farm were recorded by a phone in a bathroom. It was found hidden in a pair of shoes under a sink. The owner named Cardoza as a suspect. According to the criminal complaint Cardoza told investigators he left the phone in the bathroom to charge it. He denied leaving it there to record anyone. Multiple videos of the farm’s locker room were found on the device. An arraignment for Cardoza is scheduled for November 30th.
FDL County Burglary Update
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chris Randall says it took the bravery of a couple of people to lead to the arrest of three burglary suspects last week. An employee of Sabel Mechanical in the Town of Empire saw two people wearing masks and a suspicious vehicle in the business’s parking lot when he went to work last Monday morning. They quickly left but he followed them for a while in his vehicle and was able to give the Sheriff’s Office a description of the suspect vehicle. A Sheriff’s deputy on a medical call an hour later saw the vehicle drive by and pulled them over on a traffic stop. Randall says that took guts to pull over a vehicle with three burglary suspects by himself when it was still dark out. The Sheriff’s Office could still use some help recovering tools from the burglary. They were likely thrown out along side roads in the towns of Empire, Forest, Eden, Osceola, Auburn, and Ashford. If you find any tools on your property call the Sheriff’s Office at 920-929-3390 or Detective Derek Rehfeldt at 920-929-3377. If you wish to remain anonymous you can call 920-906-4777.

On The Move
Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mandy Kimes says their move into the historic Carnegie Hall in Ripon is slowly progressing. They will be sharing the building with Ripon Main Street. It’s owned by Tom Rogers who is leasing it to the two organizations. Kimes says they’ve had a busy couple of months but have managed to get some of the move accomplished including getting their internet needs taken care of. She says once they complete the move and feel comfortable enough they will hold an open house for the community. Kimes feels it is also a great location for people visiting Ripon who are looking for information on places to go and things to do while they are here. Recently Carnegie Hall housed some of Ripon College’s offices.

Supplies available include hygiene kits, COVID tests and more. As of last month 116 adults and 63 families in Fond du Lac were without a permanent address. RSVP’s for the ribbon-cutting ceremony are not required, but are appreciated. They can be made on the library’s website on their calendar page.
