10/14/22 Heart Surgery for Baby Girl Born with Congenital Heart Disease

14 October 2022 News

At the end of July, we told you about a fundraiser that was being held in Montello for a four-month-old baby girl that was born with a complex congenital heart disease that required surgery. The fundraiser for Peyton Hewitt was a success. She is now going on seven months old and Thursday the baby girl had heart surgery. A spokesman for the family tells us she is doing very well. Surgeons were able to do the full repair with no complications. They decided to do a delayed chest closure to avoid causing more stress on her little body. They also wanted to make sure her heart got its rhythm back and if not, they would need to place a pacemaker in it. The family is asking people to keep her in their thoughts and prayers over the next few days. The surgery was performed at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison. (Family photo)
