Oshkosh Sex Offender Sentenced To Federal Prison

A 38-year-old Oshkosh sex offender has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing and possessing child pornography. Senior District Judge William Griesbach sentenced Matheau Martinez (pictured) last Friday. Judge Griesbach noted the serious nature of the charge, the effect such crimes have on their victims and the need for just punishment. Following his release from prison, Martinez will spend the remainder of his life on supervised release. He will continue to be required to register as a sex offender. According to court filings, Martinez utilized “peer-to-peer” software to distribute images and digital videos depicting child pornography. In 2014 Martinez was convicted in Winnebago County of causing mental harm to a child and a first degree sexual assault of a child charge was read into the record.

Little White Schoolhouse

Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mandy Kimes says they won’t let the former Marine Credit Union building go to waste when they move the Little White Schoolhouse to its new site at 1074 West Fond du Lac Street. It will be used like a visitor center to host tours and more. She says the move is dependent on hiring a contractor and of course the winter season. The property at West Fond du Lac Street is currently owned by Justin Krueger a Ripon native. In a couple of years the Little White School House will celebrate its 170th anniversary of the eventful meeting that would foster the establishment of the Republican Party on March 20th, 1854.
