House Explosion Claims Second Victim

Officials say a second person has died following a house explosion in the Town of Oneida in Outagamie County over the weekend. Oneida Police say 27-year-old Emily Tank was found dead Saturday morning after the mobile home explosion on Ray Road. A second victim 65-year-old Alan Wiesler was taken to a hospital for severe burns. He died of those injuries Sunday. Outagamie Sheriff’s officials say early indications are a gas leak caused the home to explode.

Stabbing In Oshkosh

Oshkosh Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred early Monday morning in the 700 block of Otter Avenue. When officers arrived they found two victims who had suffered non-life threatening wounds from a knife. The victims were taken to a local hospital. A 35-year-old man was arrested for the stabbing and is being held in the Winnebago County Jail pending charges. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Winnebago County Crime Stoppers at (920) 231-8477.

Bench Warrant Issued For Arrest Of Berlin Man

A Green Lake County judge last week issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a 33-year-old Berlin man who failed to appear for a preliminary hearing on the felony drug charges he’s facing. Christopher Marvin called the court last Wednesday to say he did not have a ride to that day’s hearing. He then asked if the hearing could be adjourned. The hearing was called and Judge Mark Slate authorized the bench warrant for Marvin’s arrest. Marvin faces four felony drug charges including maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of methamphetamine.

Omro Bridge Closure

Starting next Monday the Omro Bridge closure begins. The bridge will be open to northbound only local traffic. Traffic will only be able to go north on Spruce St. from the bridge. The west section of Highway 21 West River Drive will be closed. Highway 21 will be detoured south on Highway 116/ Jefferson Avenue. Overnight enforcement in the municipal parking lots on the south side of the bridge will be relaxed for anyone wishing to park there vehicles on the south side and utilize the walk bridge to get home. Parking will be available behind The Omro Store and the municipal parking lot at West Main Street/ Jefferson Avenue across from Tanners. North side residents will have to take Poygan Road to Broderick Road to Highway 21 west to County Road K to County Road E To Highway 116 back to Main Street in Omro.
