Flood Watch
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until noon today. The Watch includes, Green Lake, Fond du Lac, Marquette, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago counties. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. (Ready Wisconsin photo)
Three Rescued From Lake Butte des Morts
A 38-year-old Oshkosh man was arrested Saturday night for crashing a 19 foot boat into a breakwall southeast of Terrell’s Island on Lake Butte des Morts. Winnebago County Sheriff’s officials say their communications center got a 911 call about the crash at 10:10 pm. The Omro-Rushford Fire Department rescue boat took the four occupants of the boat to the Butte des Morts Conservation Club facility on Terrell’s Island. Three of those occupants were then taken to Aurora Medical Center. That included 28 and 66-year-old women from Oshkosh and the Oshkosh man who was operating the boat. He was treated and released and later arrested for operating a boat while intoxicated causing injury.
Stabbing At Reeseville Mobile Home Park
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Village of Reeseville Saturday evening just before eight o’clock for a physical disturbance. When deputies arrived at a residence in the Reeseville Acres Mobile Home Park they encountered 21-year-old Jose Damian Pineda who was armed with a knife. They learned Pineda was allegedly involved in a stabbing incident. The victim was found with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to a hospital. Pineda was taken to the Dodge County Jail. It was an isolated incident.
Carjacker Arrested
A 34-year-old Middleton man is facing charges for a carjacking in the city of Madison and subsequent vehicle chase in Dane and Columbia counties Friday morning. A woman was assaulted, and her vehicle was taken in Madison shortly before 9 am Friday morning. A Columbia County Sheriff’s Sergeant spotted the suspect’s vehicle later in the morning on State Highway 60 west of the city of Lodi. A tire deflation device was successfully deployed and the suspect’s vehicle spun out and went into a ditch as he reentered Dane County on State Highway 113. He jumped from it and fled on foot but was captured a short time later. No one was hurt but there was damage to the suspect’s vehicle and a Columbia County Sheriff’s squad car. The suspect, Keewan Jamel Singleton was booked into the Columbia County Jail for felony eluding, car theft, and miscellaneous traffic offenses. Additional charges are pending from the City of Madison Police and Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.
Monkeypox
Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller assures residents that the risk of contracting Monkeypow remains low. Although the state has seen more than 20 cases since July 1st the county hasn’t had any reports of it yet. She says it is probably just a matter of time before the county gets its first case. She urges those who may believe they have been exposed to Monkeypox to contact their primary care physician or the Health Department at 920-929-3085. Mueller notes the county does have a supply of Monkeypox vaccine even though the President last week declared a national emergency due to the shortage of the vaccine.

Green Lake Fitness Center Reopens
Town Square Community Center in Green Lake announced the re-opening of Green Lake Fitness Center, now located in the lobby of Town Square. The gym is open 24-7 and is designed to encourage people in the community to get fit. Green Lake’s newest fitness destination offers equipment for cardio and strength training. Members enjoy the use of elliptical machines, treadmills, free weights, yoga accessories, stability balls, and other equipment. Daily, weekly, monthly and annual members are available at affordable rates. They gym is also a Silver Sneakers and Renew Active partner.
Park Sticker Contest Winner Announced
The state’s DNR has selected a Brookfield East High School senior Brooke Salomone as the winner of the 2023 Wisconsin State Park and Forest vehicle admission sticker design contest. Salomone’s design features a compass with different recreational themes available throughout Wisconsin’s state park system. The winning design will be printed on state park and forest annual vehicle admission stickers and will be displayed on more than 500,000 vehicles. Among those receiving honorable mention for the contest were Nyla Stelsel of Waupun High School, Chase Reyer of Oshkosh West High School and Ronan Wolfe of Watertown High School.
