Oshkosh Man Flees From FDL County Traffic Stop

A 42-year-old Oshkosh man who fled from a traffic stop in Fond du Lac County Thursday night is facing two counts of fleeing an officer and one count of cocaine possession. He was pulled over for equipment and moving violations on Interstate 41 near County Highway B, but fled when the Sheriff’s sergeant smelled a strong odor of drugs coming from the car and had a second deputy respond to the stop. The sergeant was able to identify the driver and passenger before the vehicle took off. That pursuit was terminated after 6.6 miles when the suspect’s vehicle entered the city of Fond du Lac. A second pursuit in the city and back onto Interstate 41 was terminated at County Highway Z in Winnebago County. During that 12.5 mile pursuit deputies saw a bag of white powered substance being thrown from the car. There were no reported injuries or property damage during either pursuit.

Loose Pea Recall Update

Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says at this point shelled or loose peas that caused people to become ill from Salmonella are probably no longer available at farmer’s markets and roadside stands. The Salmonella was traced back to shelled peas that were produced by Green Barn Farm Market of Ripon and sold at farm stands, and farmers markets in Ripon, Green Bay, Madison, and Fond du Lac, as well as Green Valley Acres Farm and Company farm stand in Neenah. At least six people became ill suffering from symptoms of Salmonella which include diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, and vomiting that lasts for several days.  She says if you still have them in your refrigerator or froze them throw them out. She recommends contacting your primary care physician or the County Health Department at 920-929-3085 if you believe you are ill from Salmonella.

The county’s agriculture industry provides more than 4,900 jobs and $1.1 billion in economic activity.
