RASD Referendum Survey
The Ripon Area School District has sent out a mailer inviting residents living in the School District to take a survey about a possible referendum. An introduction to the survey explains that $14 million in property value is coming into the district with the closure of a Tax Incremental District. It would allow the District to stage a referendum in November that would have no increase to the tax rate. State funding to the District has been frozen for three years, but Federal funding helped make up the difference. If passed the referendum would allow the District to address 35 percent of a possible $1.6 million shortfall for the 2023-2024 school year with the remaining 65 percent attained through cost saving measures. The anonymous survey closes on July 29th and results will be shared at the August 15th School Board meeting. The referendum would ask voters to allow the District to increase its operational expenses by $545,000 a year which would not increase the tax rate due to the added property values of the closing TIF District. The survey is available online in both English and Spanish.
