The Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series kicks off this Friday, June 3 with The Jimmys, Wisconsin’s premier blues and R&B powerhouse bandThe Jimmys will perform a free concert at the Village Green in downtown Ripon starting at 7:00 pm. The concert is sponsored by Jean, and axle Hinkley.

Over the past dozen plus years, The Jimmyshave solidified their brand of Blues and R&B across the Midwest, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. Members of The Jimmys have garnered everything from Wisconsin’s top honors in Blues, to Grammy recognition, to platinum records. Led by multiple award-winning keyboardist/organist Jimmy Voegeli, the band has been named a “festival favorite” in numerous reviews and magazines. Jimmy Voegeli is a phenomenal Hammond B-3 keyboardist, singer and songwriter. In addition, the band features an experienced killer rhythm section steeped in blues with Perry Weber on guitar, Chris Sandoval on drums and John Wartenwieler. The icing on the cake is how the rhythm section blends with the best horn section in the Midwest—featuring Pete Ross on saxophone, Mike Boman on trumpet and Joe Goltz on trombone. It doesn’t get any better than this – The Jimmys deliver night after night.

The Jimmys released their début CD “Gimme The Jimmys” in 2011, followed by “Hot Dish” in 2016. Their most recent album “Gotta Have It” is also garnering critical acclaim in the blues world. Produced by Tony Braunagel (drummer for Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray) this new 13 song CD features The Jimmys at full throttle, and includes “Write a Hit” which was co-written and performed with Marcia Ball.

The concert series, which is organized by Ripon Main Street, Inc., takes place from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at the Ripon Village Green located at the corner of Watson and Seward Street in historic downtown Ripon.
