Campbellsport Park Vandalized Again

Bathrooms at Fireman’s Park in Campbellsport are locked once again following a fourth vandalism incident. Fire Department officials say this time it was different because the person responsible for the damage was caught on cameras in the park and the Campbellsport Police Department was able to follow up on that. Authorities are unsure when the bathrooms will be unlocked again. Recently bathrooms at the park were vandalized for a third time this year, but social media posts got people in the village talking and the kids responsible for the damage came forward.

Kids Understand More Than We Think

The Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health for the Treffert Center and Autism Services says parents may want to speak with their children about the mass shootings at a Uvalde, Texas School and a supermarket in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Matt Doll of SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region says children are highly observant and they may understand more than you think. He recommends following the child’s lead and let them ask the questions rather than telling them what you think they need to know. He says right now adults aren’t doing a great job of teaching kids about acceptance and understanding differences.  Dr. Doll says children model their behavior after their parents. He says hate and violence are learned behaviors.

Berlin City Council Deals With Raze And Repair Orders

Luke Dretske

A member of the Berlin City Council says the city has exercised quite a bit of patience with three properties that are the subjects of raze or repairs orders. The properties are at 115 West Ceresco, 107 West Huron Street, and 271 McKittrick. Luke Dretske says some progress has been made with the property on McKittrick, but little has been done to repair the two others. He says they were hoping to get a report on the timetable for repairing the property on Ceresco at their May 10th meeting but with no kind of update on the property they decided to go forward with the raze and repair order.  Dretske says it is not unusual to see cities struggle with decisions about raze and repair orders for months or even years without the cooperation of the owners of the property.
